ast AST 50 External Seal AST 60 Internal Seal AST 70 Cartridge Seal AST 80 Cartridge Double Seal

AST 50 series single external mechanical seals

Features and Benefits
  • L-Shaped stationary eliminates need for a special gland. Allows the use of your gland in most cases. Stationary is lapped on both sides so it can be reversed for installation either way. You should add a shroud or use the existing shroud over the seal.
  • No shaft wear: Static O-ring eliminates any grooving or fretting of shaft.
  • Outside drive ring: Three pin drive for uniform torque on seal ring. No metal comes in contact with pumped fluids.
  • Balanced design: The AST 50 is a hydraulically balanced seal.
  • Visual examination: The seal spring gap (1/16") is set by the retaining clips. Design of the seal permits visual examination of of face wear.
  • Isolated springs: All springs are out of the fluid providing long life with uniform face loading.

AST 60 series single internal mechanical seals

Features and Benefits
  • Balanced seal reduces heat generated by the seal fad provides longer seal life.
  • Three pin drive: Provides uniform torque to the seal ring, maximum wear resistance due to pump vibration or shaft misalignment.
  • Three set screws for positive positioning of the seal.
  • No shaft fretting: Static O-ring elminates fretting or grooving of the shaft - avoids maintenance expenses for replacement of sleeves or shafts.
  • The dynamic o-ring groove is designed to minimize build-up of particles and the possible clogging of the seal.
  • Rotary Seal Ring: Designed as a slip fit into the holder. Eliminates seal face distortion caused by the shrink fit of the carbon face into the metal holder. Seal ring is available in Pure 658RC carbon, tungsten carbide, or silicon carbide and is field replaceable.
  • Multiple nonclogging springs provide even face loading. Springs are isolated from the prices fluid and will normally stay operational and clean.

AST 70 cartridge mechanical seals

Features and Benefits
  • The AST 70 seal is a simple to install cartridge mounted, balanced single seal. No measuring required. Seal faces are protected from damage and dirt contamination.
  • Gland port provided for product circulation with large annulus over the seal faces.
  • Rotary face is a slip fit into the rotary holder. This feature eliminates seal face distortion caused by the shrink fit of the carbon face into a metal holder.
  • Three pin drive for uniform torque on seal ring.
  • Static o-ring seals to the shaft/sleeve. Guaranteed to never damage the shaft or sleeve.
  • Universal gland design: Designed to fit ANSI Pumps without modifications. Allows seal to beused on a variety of pumps with a wide range of bolt locations. Converts packed pumps without expensive modifications.
  • Strong centering blocks and cap screws to insure correct gland centering over the shaft.
  • Stationary face is available in ceramic, tungsten carbide, or silicon carbide.
  • Non-cloging design: Springs can't be rendered inoperable by dirty fluid because they are located outside of the pump fluids.

AST 80 cartridge double mechanical seals

Features and Benefits
  • The AST 80 seal is an easy to install cartridge mounted, balanced double seal. No measuring required. Seal faces are protected from damage and dirt contamination.
  • Barrier fluid ports: 2 ports with 3/8" NPT tapped holes are provided in every gland.
  • Barrier fluid: The clean barrier fluid is on the underside of both seals. By lubricatin the seal without introducing a flush in the stuffing box, product dilution is prevented.
  • Static o-ring: Seals to the shaft/sleeve. Guaranteed to never damage the shaft or sleeve.
  • Universal gland design: Designed to fit ANSI Pumps without modifications. Allows seal to beused on a variety of pumps with a wide range of bolt locations.
  • Installed spare: When the primary seal fails, the second seal will hold, allowing scheduled shutdowns. It is the difference between having to shutdown and scheduling a shutdown.
  • Built-in environmental controls: Via the barrier fluid, you are able to control temperature and face pressure, and keep air away from the product.
